VVision and hearing are major factors in a childs development. They can affect school achievement, personality, and adjustments to life. Vision and hearing screening tests are given to all children and you will receive the results of these tests. During the year, your childs teacher will formally assess each childs progress. You will receive copies of these evaluations mid-year during Parent/Teacher conferences and again at the end of the school year. Parents are always welcome to call the preschool to schedule a conference with a staff member anytime there are concerns or questions. A "Children's Moment" will be held on a regular basis in the Sanctuary by the Pastor or a church member. Parents and siblings are always welcome. Music can be found in the classrooms daily. "Musical Moments" are presented on a regular basis as an opportunity to further explore and experience the wonders of music. Calendars are sent home each month to inform parents of the classroom curriculum and special activities each month. Children enjoy many physical activities throughout their day here at preschool and one of our long-standing, popular programs is our Movement Class. Our instructor provides music and dance, creative expression and pre-gymnastics (tumbling, trampoline..) in a safe and fun environment. Dress in non-restrictive clothing, wearing socks and tennis shoes to get the most out of this weekly program. We are very excited to provide the Handwriting Without Tears course. It has won the Distinguished Achievement Award for the best childrens curriculum as well as a Teachers Choice Award from Learning Magazine. This curriculum develops coloring, drawing, counting and handwriting readiness as well as pre-writing and alphabet skills through the use of music and multi-sensory learning materials. During the year, we will have several programs where the children will perform for an audience. Our dress rehearsals are also available for your convenience and enjoyment. On occasion, we will have parent/teacher meetings and family functions. Parents may be asked to come in and furnish refreshments, favors, games, or transportation. For their safety, please make other arrangements for younger siblings. We look forward to including everyone throughout the course of the year. |
